Cheesy Bacon Bread
Every slice of this savory bread is set off by the flavor of our Hickory Smoked bacon.

1 pound of Farmland® Extra Thick Hickory Smoked Bacon
2 cups of Buttermilk Baking Mix
1 1/4 cups (5 oz.) of Shredded Cheese, divided
2 tablespoons of Sugar
1 Egg, lightly beaten
2/3 cup of Milk
1/3 cup of Mild Picante Sauce
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Cook bacon until crisp; drain. Reserve 2 slices of bacon. Chop remaining slices.
2. Combine baking mix, 1 cup cheese and sugar in mixing bowl. Stir in egg, milk and picante sauce. Blend mixture just until moistened.
3. Sprinkle half the chopped bacon in bottom of 8x4.5x2.5-inch bread pan coated with nonstick cooking spray. Spread half the batter over bacon. Sprinkle remaining half of the chopped bacon over batter. Top with remaining half of batter. Bake at 350°F for 35-45 minutes or until pick inserted in center comes out clean.
4. Chop reserved 2 slices of bacon. Sprinkle bacon and remaining 1/4 cup cheese over top of bread. Bake for 3 to 5 minutes or just until cheese is melted.
